Grupo Metal, featuring renowned guitarist Chris Perez, is set to redefine musical boundaries with their innovative blend of heavy metal guitars, Latin pop, rock, and cumbia rhythms. The band plans to release five original songs in 2024, complete with music videos, behind-the-scenes footage, and a documentary.
Drawing inspiration from iconic bands like Maná, La Ley, and Enanitos Verdes, the Tejano duo aims to merge the rock ‘n’ roll influences of their youth with their roots in Tejano music. “Part of our past and our history, which is Tejano music, will always be a part of who I am,” Perez told Fox San Antonio. He emphasized that regardless of the style, they will always consider themselves Tejano musicians, hailing from Texas.
Their single “Volare” addresses the struggles faced by children today, portraying an angelic figure as a guardian who offers protection. Carlito, a band member, explained, “‘Volare’ is a song that I had… It reflects on the hardships occurring in Mexico, as well as personal struggles within families and relationships.” With their unique fusion of genres, Grupo Metal is poised to make a significant impact on the music scene in 2024.
