Vera Farmiga, renowned for her roles in horror classics such as The Conjuring series and Bates Motel, has ventured into music as the frontwoman of a new metal band, The Yagas. The band has just released their debut single, “The Crying Room,” featuring Farmiga alongside her husband, Renn Hawkey of Deadsy, drummer Jason Bowman, guitarist Mark Visconti, and bassist Mike Davis.
In a statement, she described “The Crying Room” as a piece about “release and relief,” capturing the emotional weight of crying and self-reflection. Filmed during and after an eclipse, the music video features Farmiga and Eugene Hütz of Gogol Bordello. “Eclipses evoke awe and wonder… they help us shift,” she explained, emphasizing the dualities of light and shadow.
With a sound reminiscent of A Perfect Circle, The Yagas are set to release their full album, Midnight Minuet, in 2025. Farmiga also continues her film career, with her final installment in The Conjuring series, Last Rites, slated for release on September 5, 2025.
