Canadian metal band LIVA has unveiled an enthralling music video for their track “Samson & Dalila I,” featured on their latest album, Ecce Mundus. The album, which was released on CD in November 2023 and will be available digitally in January 2024, marks LIVA’s return to their roots with a rich blend of classical influences and heavy metal.
This fourth full-length album weaves together medieval poetry and Latin texts, exploring timeless themes from antiquity, including the grandeur of Rome and the fable of Samson and Delilah, while addressing universal human flaws like greed, corruption, and hypocrisy. Vocalist and guitarist Pier Carlo Liva describes the single as the “flagship song of the album,” highlighting its embodiment of the band’s signature style. “It’s about the old story of Samson & Dalila. To avenge her people, Dalila cuts off Samson’s hair, thus weakening him,” he explains.
The video for “Samson & Dalila I” enhances the band’s expansive sound, showcasing more intricate orchestrations and heavier guitar riffs than ever before. It invites viewers into the lyrical depth and otherworldly atmosphere that characterize LIVA’s music, offering a captivating visual experience for fans.
