WKCR to Host 48-Hour Country Music Festival This Weekend

by Barbara

WKCR is set to bring back its highly anticipated 48-hour Country Music Festival this weekend, running from Sunday, November 10 to Monday, November 11. The festival, which will preempt all regular programming, offers an exciting opportunity for listeners to immerse themselves in the diverse world of country music. As one of the few stations in the tri-state area dedicated to showcasing traditional and lesser-known country styles, WKCR is thrilled to present this extensive celebration of the genre.

Unlike previous years, which featured themed festivals, this year’s event will span a wide range of topics. Each three-hour block will feature a unique theme, carefully curated by the station’s team and individual programmers. Highlights include genre-focused shows on Religious Country, Outlaw Country, and Alt-Country, as well as artist profiles on legends like Johnny Cash, Roy Acuff, and Hank Williams. The festival will also explore themes such as country songs about marriage and divorce, the children of country artists, and the contributions of black country musicians.

Listeners can tune in to the festival live on 89.9FM or stream it on WKCR’s website.
