The West Valley Country Music Association’s 6th Annual Songwriting Contest saw three talented songwriters take the top honors in a highly competitive field.
Out of 42 entries from Arizona-based songwriters, the panel of industry professionals judged the songs based on originality, lyricism, composition, and marketability. Odie Piker earned first place, followed by Brent Rasmussen in second and Alan Nordquist in third.
The top 15 finalists performed their original songs at a special event held at the Glendale Library auditorium. Along with cash prizes and award plaques, the top three winners also received a one-year membership to the Arizona Songwriters Association, cementing their place in Arizona’s vibrant country music scene.
