Pop icon Gwen Stefani, known for her genre-blending prowess in ska, rock, pop, and dancehall, has hinted at a potential new musical direction: a country duets album with her husband, country star Blake Shelton. Married in 2021, Stefani and Shelton have already collaborated musically, sparking speculation about a full-length country project together.
When asked about the possibility of recording a country duets album with Shelton, Stefani expressed enthusiasm. “I would love to,” she said. The journey into country music has been a surprising twist for Stefani, who admitted, “I never listened to country music, so while Blake was super successful, I never even knew he existed before I met him.”
Stefani’s latest album, Bouquet, features the track “Purple Irises” and showcases some Nashville influence. However, despite the cowboy hat on the cover art, the album stops short of being a dedicated country record. Whether a full country project with Shelton materializes remains to be seen, but the idea is one Stefani seems eager to explore.
