The winners of the inaugural Caring for Country music competition were announced by Northern Territory Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, Gerard Maley, and Federal Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, Julie Collins. The competition, designed to promote biosecurity awareness through music, garnered 21 entries from Territory songwriters, all focused on educating the public about biosecurity in a creative and engaging way.
The initiative aligns with the Northern Territory Government’s commitment to safeguarding the region against potential biosecurity threats, a key part of their strategy to grow the economy, create jobs, and boost population growth.
Minister Maley emphasized that the competition is an important tool in raising awareness about biosecurity issues, stating, “The Caring for Country Music competition is just one of the ways the Territory government is underscoring the importance of protecting the NT from biosecurity incursions.” He added, “Together, we share the responsibility of safeguarding our Territory from new and established pests and diseases.”
The competition’s winners, celebrated for their talent and contribution to this vital cause, reflect the creativity and commitment of the Northern Territory’s music community to the region’s future and security.
