J. Cole has surprised fans by releasing his 2007 debut mixtape, The Come Up, to streaming platforms for the first time ever. The mixtape, hosted by DJ OnPoint, originally dropped in May 2007 and features 17 tracks, including early fan favorites like “School Daze,” “Simba,” and “Dollar and a Dream.”
This long-awaited release has sparked excitement among Cole’s fanbase, leading to speculation that the rapper may bring his entire mixtape catalog— including classics like Friday Night Lights and The Warm Up— to streaming services in the near future.
The move coincides with the launch of Cole’s Inevitable audio series, where he reflects on his career journey, from his early rap ambitions to the release of 2014 Forest Hills Drive. Hosted by Cole and his manager Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad, the 10-episode series is described as a “movie in the form of a conversation,” offering fans an intimate look into the making of one of hip-hop’s biggest stars.
