Old Dominion made history at the 2024 CMA Awards, taking home the coveted Vocal Group of the Year honor at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on November 20. The band’s win marked a milestone as they became the second-most awarded vocal group in the history of the Country Music Association Awards.
In his acceptance speech, frontman Matthew Ramsey expressed his disbelief, saying, “We just made history, that’s crazy.” As he accepted the award from The Oak Ridge Boys, Ramsey paid tribute to legendary acts like Alabama and The Oak Ridge Boys themselves, who paved the way for the group’s success.
The band’s message extended beyond the stage, as Ramsey urged fellow artists to unite and create during these “weird” times. “Let’s get together and create,” he encouraged, calling on artists to continue making meaningful art in a world that seems increasingly unpredictable.
