Alternative-pop artist Banks is set to release Off With Her Head, her highly anticipated fifth studio album, on February 28, 2025. The album marks a return to the sound of her debut, Goddess (2014), which earned her critical acclaim and peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard 200.
In a statement, Banks described the new project as a “big sister” to Goddess, as she reteams with the core musicians and producers who helped shape her early sound. While the album revisits familiar themes, it also reflects her personal and artistic growth over the past decade. “It’s about shedding past identities that no longer resonate,” she explained. “The title symbolizes the various ways we construct, perform, express, and sometimes hide our thoughts.”
Banks also teased the album’s emotional depth, touching on themes of self-discovery and breaking free from societal expectations. “This journey has been incredibly liberating,” she said.
To build anticipation, Banks will release her new single “Best Friends” on November 22, which explores the bittersweet process of growing apart. She recently returned with the track “I Hate Your Ex-Girlfriend” featuring Doechii, which will also appear on the album.
In celebration of her 10th anniversary in music, Banks will release Goddess Unplugged, an acoustic version of her debut album, on December 13.
