Steve Perry’s newly expanded edition of The Season features an emotional highlight—a duet with his late father, Ray Perry, on the track “Call Me Irresponsible.” This poignant moment comes after Perry rediscovered a special gift from the past: a 1993 karaoke cassette his father had sent him, which included the song that resonated most deeply with him.
In a heartfelt statement, Perry shared, “My father, Ray Perry, was a singer, and when I was a child, he would sing to me at bedtime. I recently found a karaoke cassette of my dad singing that he sent me back in 1993 for Christmas. The one song that touched me the most was ‘Call Me Irresponsible.’ His voice was lovely.”
Now reimagined as The Season 3, Perry’s latest album includes five newly recorded tracks, such as “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Let It Snow.” The sessions were co-produced with Thom Flowers, his collaborator from Traces, and largely recorded at Perry’s home studio. The album features returning drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and multi-instrumentalist Dallas Kruse.
