Brooklyn-born singer, rapper, and songwriter Kershey is breaking boundaries in the music industry by blending “Ivy League cred” with her musical artistry. With a unique perspective shaped by both her academic background and street-smart roots, Kershey is reshaping the expectations of hip-hop and R&B.
A rising force in New York’s vibrant music scene, Kershey has already made her mark by opening for rap icon Trina and earning recognition at key showcases like Hot 97’s all-female event and Major Stage’s “Women on the Rise” at SOB’s. As she prepares to release her highly anticipated debut EP, her electrifying stage presence and sharp lyricism are captivating audiences.
“My music is about balancing two worlds—Brooklyn and the Ivy League,” says Kershey. “It’s a celebration of my journey, of where I’ve been, and where I’m going. I want to inspire others to overcome the societal limits placed on them.”
A graduate of NYU and currently pursuing further studies at Columbia University, Kershey is using her education as a platform for advocacy. “Hip-hop has always been a voice for the voiceless,” she explains. “I want to amplify that message, both on stage and off.” She is also partnering with community organizations, such as Seeds to Flowers in East New York, to uplift local youth and families.
Beyond music, Kershey is an entrepreneur. In 2015, she launched Kaché Beauty, a brand that quickly gained celebrity endorsements, including from shoe designer Jessica Rich. She later founded Kaché Creative Group, a high-end branding and web design agency, and during the pandemic, she collaborated with her mother to create Express White Smiles, an affordable teeth-whitening brand. With her blend of artistic talent and business savvy, Kershey is proving that success in the urban music world can go hand in hand with intellectual ambition and entrepreneurial spirit.
