Country music legend Marty Stuart is using his success to bring the rich history of the genre back to his roots in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Stuart’s Congress of Country Music aims to preserve and showcase the legacy of country music through an extensive collection of memorabilia and artifacts. The project also celebrates the future of the genre with live performances at the newly renovated Ellis Theater.
Natalie Dreifuss, Operations Manager for the Congress, was in Starkville to share updates on the progress being made in Neshoba County.
Stuart, who left his hometown for Nashville as a teenager, has played alongside legends like Bill Monroe and Johnny Cash. Over the years, he amassed a remarkable collection of country music history and decided his hometown was the perfect place to share it with the world.
While Stuart is focused on preserving the past, he continues to perform and tour with his band, The Fabulous Superlatives, ensuring the future of country music remains as vibrant as its history.
