Drake Threatens Legal Action Against Universal Music and Spotify

by Barbara

Drake is preparing to take legal action against Universal Music Group (UMG) and Spotify, accusing them of inflating streaming numbers for his track “Not Like Us.” The legal filing, submitted under the name Frozen Moments, LLC, claims the discrepancy in streaming data could undermine the integrity of the artist’s work. Drake, who is listed as a manager of the LLC, asserts that the inflated numbers are deceptive.

In response to the accusations, UMG firmly denied any wrongdoing. A spokesperson for the music corporation stated, “The suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue. We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns.” They added that no legal claims could obscure the reality that listeners ultimately decide the music they choose to enjoy.

Spotify has yet to comment on the matter, with a representative declining to provide any statements.
