Kendrick Lamar’s recent music video for “Squabble Up” continues to make waves, this time with a special nod to hip-hop legend Ice-T. Released on November 25, the video for the standout track from Lamar’s surprise sixth studio album GNX features vibrant visuals of the Compton rapper dancing in a blue hoodie, joined by a series of West Coast-inspired characters and dancers.

Among the numerous references to West Coast culture, one moment stands out—Lamar pays homage to Ice-T’s 1988 album Power. A woman in a white thong swimsuit and red heels, holding a shotgun, mirrors the iconic cover of Power, a subtle but striking tribute.

Upon seeing the reference, Ice-T shared his admiration for Lamar on social media. He posted “Respect” alongside a crown emoji on X (formerly Twitter), and on Instagram, he expressed, “The @kendricklamar gave me some love… Now YOU have the POWER.”

This exchange between two hip-hop giants highlights the mutual respect that transcends generations in the rap world.
