Rock icon Rod Stewart is set to return to the Glastonbury Festival in June 2025, taking on the coveted “legends” slot over two decades after headlining the world-renowned event. The announcement, made by festival organizers, has already generated significant buzz among fans of the veteran performer.
At 79, Stewart expressed his excitement on social media, declaring he is “proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury.” The upcoming performance marks a significant milestone in his illustrious career, which has spanned over six decades.
Stewart first rose to fame in the London blues scene of the 1960s as the lead vocalist for the Jeff Beck Group before joining the Faces, a raucous rock band that cemented his place in music history. His solo career launched timeless hits like “Maggie May,” “Tonight’s the Night,” and “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?”
Though Stewart recently announced plans to scale back large-scale world tours, he remains steadfast in his passion for music, saying he has “no desire to retire.” He cheekily noted on Instagram, “I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”
Glastonbury co-organizer Emily Eavis expressed her enthusiasm for Stewart’s return, describing it as “everything we could wish for” as the festival prepares for a “fallow year” in 2026 to allow the land at Worthy Farm to recover.
Stewart’s performance is set to be a highlight of the festival, which consistently draws tens of thousands of music fans to southwest England each summer. With his enduring charisma and iconic catalog of hits, Stewart promises to deliver an unforgettable show in the legendary slot.
