Cody Johnson is set to showcase a new side of his musical talent during his appearance on CMA Country Christmas. Known for his high-energy performances, Johnson is stepping into the shoes of classic crooners like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, giving fans a rare glimpse of his more laid-back, vocal finesse.
Johnson explained that the holiday special allows him to explore a different aspect of his artistry. “I get to show a little bit more of a Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin side of myself that you don’t normally see when you come to one of my live shows,” he said.
While his live shows are typically known for their electric energy—complete with riser jumps and crowd engagement—Johnson is taking a more subdued approach for this performance. He chose to sing classic holiday standards like “White Christmas” and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” to highlight the softer, crooning side of his voice that fans don’t often hear in his usual concerts.
CMA Country Christmas will air on December 3 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, and it will be available to stream the following day on Hulu and Disney+. This special performance promises to offer a refreshing take on Johnson’s vocal range, offering a perfect holiday treat for fans.
