Milwaukee’s iconic hip-hop group, Black Elephant, is making a triumphant return to the stage this Black Friday to mark the 20th anniversary of their seminal album Eat This. The special anniversary concert will celebrate the album’s impact, including the standout track “Nutrition,” which Radio Milwaukee once hailed as one of the city’s 10 most important hip-hop records.
The group, composed of core members Element Everest Blanks, Dameon Ellzey, and Derrick Harriell, is known for pioneering the fusion of live band instrumentation with hip-hop, a distinctive style that set them apart in the Milwaukee music scene.
“We were kind of at the forefront of performing with live bands as far as hip-hop is concerned,” said Blanks, also known by his stage name Element. “All of our band members are still out there making music.”
This anniversary concert promises to be a special event, offering fans both a trip down memory lane and a glimpse into the continued musical journey of Black Elephant’s influential members.
