BTS’ Jin has surprised fans with a special Thanksgiving gift: a new version of his solo track “Falling”, featuring a powerful vocal contribution from Taka, lead singer of Japanese rock band ONE OK ROCK. The reimagined version of the track, released on November 26, adds a new dynamic to the original, amplifying the emotional intensity of the song with Taka’s commanding voice.
“Falling,” which appears on Jin’s debut solo album Happy, is a heart-wrenching ballad about longing and love. The song originally showcased Jin’s smooth vocals with its finger-snapping rhythm and whistle pop elements. Now, with Taka’s powerful runs and gritty tone, the new version intensifies the longing in the lyrics, particularly the refrain: “My heart beats for you / All for you / One step closer / Until I reach you.”
Taka, who co-wrote and co-produced the original version of “Falling” alongside ONE OK ROCK guitarist Toru, adds a raw emotional layer to the song. Big Hit Music, Jin’s label, praised the collaboration, stating that Taka’s vocal contribution deepens the song’s portrayal of love.
The new version of “Falling” comes as part of Jin’s ongoing solo journey. So far, he has released “I’ll Be There” and “Running Wild” from Happy, which continues to gain traction globally. In a historic achievement, Jin’s album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 (dated Nov. 30), marking the first time three K-pop albums have concurrently landed in the top 10. Joining Jin’s Happy in the top 10 are ATEEZ’s Golden Hour: Part.2 at No. 1 and ENHYPEN’s ROMANCE: UNTOLD, which re-entered the chart at No. 7 following an expanded reissue.
Jin’s continued success highlights his ability to carve out a solo career beyond BTS, and the new version of “Falling” only strengthens his position as a multi-faceted artist in the K-pop and global music scenes.
