Spiritbox frontwoman Courtney LaPlante has shared her excitement over the band’s Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance, marking a major milestone in their career. The 2025 Grammy nomination places Spiritbox in fierce competition alongside Gojira, Metallica, Judas Priest, and Knocked Loose featuring Poppy.
LaPlante expressed her pride, noting that while legacy bands often dominate the category, this year’s nominations include a refreshing mix of both established and emerging talent. “Historically, it’s been mostly legacy bands with maybe one smaller band. This time, two newer acts—Spiritbox and Knocked Loose—are nominated alongside Poppy,” she said.
LaPlante also praised Gojira’s groundbreaking performance of “Ah, Ça Ira!” at the Olympics, calling it “the greatest metal performance of all time.” Reflecting on the significance of their nomination for “Cellar Door,” LaPlante emphasized the excitement shared between the younger bands, celebrating a shift in the industry. “We’re all really excited for each other,” she concluded.
