New Orleans-based alt-rock band The Bottoms are making up for lost time. Since their first full show in January, the band has quickly gained traction, opening for Living Colour at the House of Blues and playing several gigs at local venues like the former Hi-Ho Lounge. In just a few months, they’ve also released four captivating singles, drawing inspiration from their ’90s alternative and indie rock influences.
For the band, the key to their success is what drummer Eric Nelson describes as “flow”—a creative energy that makes everything feel effortless. “When you love something and time just melts away,” Nelson says. “It’s that ideology: it has to be fun and rewarding. We’re constantly in flow.”
The Bottoms are set to perform next on December 7 at Broadside with The Natural Light All-Stars, featuring special guest vocalist Kelcy Mae Wilburn and Zac Hobbs from Pensacola’s Deadly Fists of Kung Fun.
