Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars have reached a significant milestone with their ballad “Die With a Smile,” which has soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Adult Pop Airplay chart (dated December 7). The track climbs three spots to the top, marking a first for Gaga on the chart and the fourth for Mars.
This achievement is particularly sweet for Gaga, who had previously reached No. 2 on the chart twice, with “Shallow” (2019) and “The Edge of Glory” (2011). For Mars, it adds to his impressive history of success on the chart, including previous No. 1 hits such as “Uptown Funk!” (2015), “When I Was Your Man” (2013), and “Just the Way You Are” (2010).
Gaga’s “Die With a Smile” tops Adult Pop Airplay nearly 16 years after her debut on the chart, which occurred with “Just Dance” in December 2008. The track, featuring Colby O’Donis, reached No. 7, marking the beginning of her long-running presence on the chart.
This historic No. 1 marks the longest wait for an artist’s first Adult Pop Airplay leader since Elton John and Britney Spears’ 2022 collaboration, “Hold Me Closer.”
