Carrie Underwood fans have a major reason to ring in 2024 with excitement: the country superstar will headline this year’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Underwood’s performance will celebrate her newly minted role as a judge on American Idol and mark the 20th anniversary of her victory on the show.
Underwood’s set promises a medley of hits spanning her two-decade career, echoing the format of her acclaimed Las Vegas residency, which is set to conclude in 2025. This time, she’ll bring her electrifying performance to the heart of New York City’s Times Square, her third appearance on the iconic New Year’s Eve stage.
“I have such fun memories of performing on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in Times Square in both 2007 and 2015, and I’m so excited to perform just before the ball drops again this year,” Underwood said in a statement.
She’s not the only country star lighting up the night. Megan Moroney will perform a two-song medley from her album Am I Okay?, while Cody Johnson and Thomas Rhett are also slated to appear. The star-studded lineup extends beyond country music, featuring performances from British singer-songwriter Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Teddy Swims, Lenny Kravitz, and Tinashe.
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve airs live on ABC starting at 8 p.m. EST on December 31. Underwood’s performance is scheduled just before midnight, making her a key part of the countdown to 2024.
