Smino Drops New Album Maybe in Nirvana

Smino has unveiled his highly anticipated fourth studio album, Maybe in Nirvana, available now on his independent label, Zero Fatigue. The album, which dropped on December 6, comes two years after his previous release, Luv 4 Rent.

The rap music star described the album as a product of his emotional journey, explaining that the title phrase “maybe in nirvana” reflects his indecision about releasing the project. “I made this album in 2020, and it was a time when I was just being very honest and open about my emotions,” he shared. “It’s like a single-era Smee, just wilding, but still sounding grown — a kid in a grown man’s body.”

The 11-track album includes the deeply personal intro “Dear Fren,” which Smino calls his favorite because it was written as a letter to his late grandmother and cousin. He also pointed out that “Tequan” is likely a fan favorite, with its playful reference to tequila and wine.

Maybe in Nirvana follows Smino’s 2022 album Luv 4 Rent, which featured collaborations with artists like J. Cole, Doechii, and Lil Uzi Vert. The album reached No. 28 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and No. 50 on the Billboard 200.
