Dolly Parton is giving aspiring performers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to step into her iconic shoes. The country legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer announced an open internet casting call for her upcoming Broadway show, Dolly: An Original Musical.
In an enthusiastic video message, Parton shared her excitement: “As you may have heard, my life story is coming to Broadway… and now, I’m announcing the search for Dolly.” The 78-year-old superstar emphasized that the casting is open to all talented performers, whether they are seasoned theater professionals or undiscovered talents with that special something. “This show is a celebration of my music, my life, and all the amazing people who’ve been with me along the way,” she added.
Parton encouraged applicants to submit auditions online and share their performances using the hashtag #SearchForDolly. A select few will have the opportunity to audition in person for the show’s casting director. “So what are you waiting for? This might be your big moment!” she said.
The musical, which Parton first teased in June under the title Hello, I’m Dolly: An Original Musical, is set to debut in 2026. The show will feature a blend of Parton’s greatest hits alongside brand-new songs she’s written for the production. “I tried for years to figure out how to tell my life story and make it make sense,” Parton explained at the time. “I’m hoping you’re gonna laugh and cry.”
