Breaking Benjamin has claimed the top spot on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with their latest single, “Awaken,” marking the band’s eighth time at No. 1. The track, which reached the summit of the Dec. 14-dated chart, is the band’s first chart-topping hit since 2020’s “Far Away,” featuring Scooter Ward.
The band, fronted by Ben Burnley, first led the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart back in 2007 with their breakout hit “Breath,” which stayed at No. 1 for seven weeks.
“Awaken” is also making waves on the all-rock-format Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, climbing to No. 4 with 4 million audience impressions, reflecting a 4% increase in the week ending Dec. 5, according to Luminate. This marks the band’s highest position on the chart since their 2009 hit “I Will Not Bow.”
In addition to its success on mainstream rock radio, “Awaken” is also gaining traction on the Alternative Airplay chart, where Breaking Benjamin is aiming for their first entry since 2015 with tracks like “Failure” and “Angels Fall.”
“Awaken” serves as the lead single from the band’s highly anticipated seventh studio album, although the title and release date are still under wraps. Breaking Benjamin’s previous album, Ember, debuted at No. 1 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart in 2018, while their compilation album Aurora topped the chart in 2020.
All Billboard charts for the week of Dec. 14 will be updated on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
