New Zealand country-rock artist Jaydin Shingleton is charging ahead with his new single, Freight Train, following his success as a semi-finalist on The Voice Australia. The high-energy track is a powerful and heartfelt tribute to his fiancée, Victoria, and showcases Shingleton’s dynamic vocal range and songwriting talent.
As a member of Team Guy (Sebastian) on The Voice Australia, Shingleton, hailing from Westport, NZ, has used the momentum from the show to fuel his music career. Freight Train blends heartfelt lyrics with an infectious country-rock rhythm, reflecting the joy and intensity of a love that moves at full speed.
“Freight Train is a happy song—country rock that truly shows who I am as an artist,” said Shingleton. “It’s about my fiancée, Victoria, who has blown me away. The song began with the melody, and I knew it needed to have power.”
The deeply personal track, which was written entirely by Shingleton, captures the essence of his relationship with Victoria. “When I met Victoria, everything just clicked. The song just came together, and she loves it—she says, ‘That’s me, I did that!’ She gets a kick out of hearing me sing it.”
Having completed the CMAA Academy of Country Music twice, Shingleton is now setting his sights on expanding his career in Australia. He plans to relocate to Brisbane in 2025 to continue growing his fanbase and taking his music to new heights. “I’m hoping to be in Australia by April to carry on the momentum,” he said.
With Freight Train ready to make waves, Jaydin Shingleton is primed for a promising future in the country music scene.
