After an unforgettable performance at Maryland Deathfest, Canadian death metal band Gorguts has announced they won’t be taking the stage again until their upcoming album is finished. The album will be their first full release since 2016’s 32-minute single Pleiades’ Dust.
In a post on their Facebook page, the band thanked their Maryland fans and confirmed the break. “Now it’s time for us to work on new material. The band won’t be performing live until we release our new album. Please be patient—this is how the process goes.”
Frontman Luc Lemay shared more about the creative process, revealing that while he had taken a long break from writing, he now has a clear vision for the new material. “My mind was just not into it,” Lemay explained. “But now I have a clearer vision of what I want to do, so it will be an easier task.”
For those eager to see Lemay live, he will perform with Pallid Veil at the Metal Injection festival in September. Pallid Veil features Lemay alongside other metal veterans, including Dave Davidson of Revocation and Liam Wilson of The Dillinger Escape Plan.
