Dave Grohl is set to release a full-length metal album under the name Dream Widow, following its teaser in the recent horror-comedy film Studio 666. The album, slated for release on March 25, will feature the music of the fictional death metal band Dream Widow, which Grohl introduced last month with the single “March of the Insane.”
Grohl previously described the album as “the lost album,” explaining it was the one the band was working on before the band’s vocalist “killed the entire band.” The project is heavily influenced by Grohl’s love for Eighties thrash metal, with inspirations from bands like Trouble, Corrosion of Conformity, and Kyuss.
The album will include the 13-minute metal epic “Lacrimus dei Ebrius,” which features several distinct musical sections, each drawing on different metal styles from the past. While Grohl has not disclosed the full lineup of musicians, fans can expect an authentic, thrash-driven sound. The physical release is planned for later this year.
