Real name Mihlali Koyana, K.Keed’s innovative and distinct rap style has earned her 175,800 listeners on Spotify, surpassing other major artists like Nadia Nakai, Dee Koala, Fifi Cooper, and Boity.
“I feel extremely blessed and humbled,” K.Keed shared, reflecting on her achievement. “It feels unreal, especially at my age, but it encourages me to push harder and strive for greatness.”
Known for her unorthodox approach, K.Keed’s rise to the top of the streaming charts represents more than just success—it’s a message of resilience and self-belief. “Being number one feels like a hug from my fans, like they’re saying, ‘We got you,’” she said.
Her journey to the top has been far from easy. “The creative industry is complex,” she explained. “Patience and timing have been key lessons over the past five years.” K.Keed stresses that setbacks shouldn’t hinder progress. “It’s all about persistence and dedication to your vision.”
Growing up in the vibrant and challenging community of Gugulethu, Cape Town, K.Keed attributes her drive to the lessons learned in her neighborhood. “The hustle mentality is something I learned early on. I knew I had to take the long route, but my goal was always clear,” she said.
Her music and style reflect her roots, as she proudly embraces her identity. “I make sure to embody my hood in my music, my character, and my fashion. I’m a kasi bru, and that’s something you can’t find anywhere else,” K.Keed affirmed.
