The Darkness has dropped their latest high-energy single, I Hate Myself, following its premiere on BBC Radio 2 with Jo Whiley on December 10th. The track is the second release from the band’s upcoming eighth studio album, Dreams On Toast, set to arrive on March 28, 2024, via Cooking Vinyl.
A true embodiment of the band’s signature punk rock glam, I Hate Myself sees frontman Justin Hawkins in a self-deprecating mood, reflecting on the unraveling of a relationship while humorously pointing the finger at himself. The track is an explosive mix of soaring falsetto, swaggering riffs, triumphant choruses, and fiery solos—reminiscent of a rock ‘n’ roll party where legends like Status Quo, Slade, Cheap Trick, and Motörhead all collide on the jukebox.
With its irresistible energy and raw, unapologetic sound, I Hate Myself promises to be a standout anthem in The Darkness’ ongoing musical evolution.
