Lee Brice’s new holiday track, “Single Bells,” brings a fresh, emotional twist to the season with its moody yet uplifting tone. Inspired by the nostalgic sadness of the holidays, the song transforms the familiar “Jingle Bells” into a reflection on loneliness, particularly during a time when many are experiencing heartache. “There’s something in the air during this time of year,” Brice says, recalling how breakups around the holidays can leave an emotional void.
The song’s emotional impact was unanticipated, sparked by a piano/vocal version sent to Brice by David Tolliver of Halfway to Hazard. Though not initially seeking a Christmas song, Brice connected deeply with the track, which speaks to the bittersweet side of the season.
