Ed Sheeran is gearing up to deliver fresh music in 2025, and fans can expect a return to the upbeat, “big pop” sound that marked much of his early career. The British singer-songwriter revealed that his next album, which remains untitled, is already complete, and he’s excited to step back into the world of pop bangers.
Sheeran explained that his previous album, Subtract, was a departure from his usual sound, offering a more subdued and introspective vibe. “It feels like I’m getting back into big pop for the first time in a long time,” he said, expressing his enthusiasm about the new direction.
The 33-year-old artist also shared that he has already filmed two music videos for the new album, with plans to shoot two more early in the new year. As Sheeran continues his global touring schedule, he’ll be heading to Asia before returning to Europe next spring.
The new album news comes after Sheeran wrapped up his +-=÷x (Mathematics) tour, which grossed over $268 million in 2023. The tour spanned more than two years, with Sheeran playing across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S. The Mathematics tour was the seventh-highest-grossing tour of 2023, a testament to Sheeran’s ongoing global appeal.
In addition to his upcoming album, Sheeran also released a new holiday single, “Under The Tree,” for Netflix’s That Christmas. The song, which Sheeran described as a long-awaited dream, explores the melancholy side of the holiday season, capturing a reality many face during Christmas time. “I’d never seen the need to write a sad Christmas song until writing this one,” he said.
