Drake continues to reign supreme in the world of R&B and hip-hop, securing the title of Top R&B/Hip-Hop Artist for an impressive eighth time at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards. This achievement further cements his place at the top, with the Toronto native holding twice as many year-end No. 1 titles as any other artist, trailing only R. Kelly by one.
In addition to this accolade, Drake’s 2023 album For All the Dogs earned him the award for Top Rap Album. The album, which spent 11 weeks at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, marked the longest such run for any of Drake’s projects since Take Care. For All the Dogs also delivered several chart-topping hits, including “Slime You Out” featuring SZA and “First Person Shooter” with J. Cole, both of which reached No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The track “Rich Baby Daddy,” featuring Sexyy Red, also contributed to the album’s success.
In the Top Rap Artist and Top Rap Male Artist categories, Drake triumphed over his rival Kendrick Lamar, adding to his career total of 42 Billboard wins. However, Lamar’s “Not Like Us” earned the prestigious Top Rap Song award, bolstered by its record-breaking 24-week reign on the Hot Rap Songs chart and a historic 21-week stint at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Despite stiff competition, Drake’s continued dominance underscores his unshakable influence on the modern rap and R&B scene.
