Folk sensation Noah Kahan received the prestigious Top Rock Album award at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards for his breakout album Stick Season. The album, which has become a defining moment in Kahan’s career, continues to captivate audiences worldwide, having reached 2x Platinum certification and topping charts in countries such as Canada, the UK, and Ireland.
Released in October 2022, Stick Season emerged from Kahan’s experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. The album, which he calls a “love letter to New England,” reflects his deep connection to his Vermont roots. Kahan’s journey with Stick Season was marked by multiple extended versions, including the We’ll All Be Here Forever and 2024 Forever editions.
In a heartfelt message during the ceremony, Kahan expressed his gratitude for the honor: “Thank you so much to the Billboard Music Awards for giving me the honor of Top Rock Album. I am so moved and honored. I made this album about Vermont, and I want to shout out people there, my family there… I’m just so grateful for this amazing opportunity.”
Kahan entered the awards show with four nominations, including Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Song for “Stick Season,” and Top Billboard 200 Album. The Billboard Music Awards recognize the year’s most successful artists, albums, and songs based on sales, streaming, airplay, and touring data, making this honor particularly significant for Kahan’s remarkable year.
