Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department Dominates Billboard 200 for 17th Week

by Barbara

Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) continues its reign at the top of the Billboard 200, securing its 17th week at No. 1 on the albums chart for the week dated December 21. The album reasserted its position last week following the release of its deluxe Anthology edition, which was made available exclusively at Target on CD and vinyl. In the tracking week ending December 12, the album earned 240,000 equivalent album units, a 41% drop from the previous week, with over 80% of the total driven by physical album sales, according to Luminate.

The week also saw impressive debuts and returns on the Billboard 200. ROSÉ’s debut solo album rosie entered at No. 3, TWICE’s Strategy arrived at No. 4, and Sabrina Carpenter’s holiday album Fruitcake reentered the top 10, claiming the No. 10 spot after its wide physical release.

TTPD originally released on April 19 as a 16-song digital album and in various 17-track physical editions. Swift followed up just hours later with the Anthology version, a 31-song expansion, initially available only as a digital download and streaming set. On November 29, Target began selling exclusive CD and vinyl versions of the Anthology edition, which also included four bonus acoustic tracks previously available in other album formats.
