George Birge has achieved a major milestone in his career, reaching No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart with his hit single “Cowboy Songs.” The track surged two spots this week, climbing from No. 3 to the top position.
“Cowboy Songs” is the title track from Birge’s debut full-length album, released in April. The singer co-wrote the song alongside Lalo Guzman, Matt McGinn, and Michael Tyler, with Guzman and McGinn also taking the helm as producers. The song, which paints a picture of a woman who “only dances to cowboy songs,” is laced with playful lyrics, including the line “That steel guitar’ll steal her heart.”
Birge, reflecting on the achievement, shared his excitement: “Having the No. 1 song on the Billboard Country Airplay chart is an absolute dream come true. It’s wild to think that the song I wrote about chasing my wife across dusty dive bars in Austin, Texas, is now sitting at the top. I couldn’t think of a better way to end the year.”
