Kane Brown is gearing up for the release of his fourth studio album, The High Road, set to drop on January 24. The album marks a pivotal moment in the country star’s career, as he opens up about experimenting with new sounds while staying rooted in his country roots.
Brown reflects on the journey that led to The High Road, a fitting title for an artist who’s no stranger to hard work and ambition. Just days before, he had been in Los Angeles, performing at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball alongside a diverse lineup of artists including SZA, Tate McRae, Madison Beer, T-Pain, Paris Hilton, and K-pop group NCT Dream.
While the mix of country and pop performers may seem unconventional, Brown is no stranger to genre-blending. His unique style blends classic country elements like fiddle, slide guitar, and his signature twang, while exploring new territory with fresh sounds. Brown admits that while he’s always been hesitant to push boundaries, after nearly a decade in the industry, he’s ready to fully embrace his artistic freedom. “I needed to stop hiding and just do what I love to do. And country is always my number one,” he says.
The High Road features more collaborations than any of Brown’s previous albums, with notable tracks including collaborations with Khalid, Jelly Roll, and country legend Brad Paisley. The album promises to be a bold and exciting step forward for the artist as he continues to shape the future of modern country music.
