IU’s influence in the K-pop industry continues to grow, as she cements her place as one of the most beloved and successful solo artists in Korean music history. The multi-talented star, known for her prowess in both music and acting, has captivated fans across generations with her remarkable achievements in 2024.
Her latest single, “Love Wins All,” became an instant hit, soaring to the No. 1 spot on Melon’s TOP100 chart just one hour after its release on January 24. The track made history as only the second song to accomplish this feat since Melon’s chart reform. It went on to dominate the weekly chart for four consecutive weeks, topped February’s monthly chart, and achieved a record-breaking 339 perfect all-kills on iChart.
IU’s unprecedented success has also earned her recognition on the global stage. She was chosen as Korea’s representative for Billboard’s prestigious Global No. 1 artist series, an honor she described as both humbling and surreal.
Her achievements continued on the road, as IU embarked on a monumental world tour in March 2024. Spanning 31 performances across Japan, Europe, and North America, the tour was attended by nearly half a million fans, setting a new record for a Korean female solo artist. Her shows included four sold-out performances at Seoul’s KSPO Dome and a groundbreaking concert at Manila’s Philippine Arena, where she made history as the first Korean solo artist to headline the iconic venue.
IU’s record-breaking year culminated in September with her encore concerts at Seoul World Cup Stadium. She became the first female artist to perform at the venue, drawing an astounding 107,000 fans across two nights — the largest concert attendance ever for a Korean solo artist and the biggest for any female artist in Korea.
