Cardiff-based rockers HIMALAYAS have dropped their latest single, Nothing Higher, through Nettwerk Music Group. The track delivers an expansive and dynamic sound, blending elements of Muse and Death From Above 1979 with its bold riffs and driving rhythm. Lush, atmospheric layers and haunting guitar notes punctuate the song, creating a soundscape that captures both chaos and hope.
The song’s theme, as explained by lead guitarist and songwriter Mike Griffiths, explores the personal struggle to find meaning in a chaotic world, offering moments of relief through human connection and love. “Nothing Higher” contrasts two distinct parts: an opening section filled with uncertainty and turmoil, which gradually gives way to a more hopeful and serene conclusion.
This release follows the band’s October single, What If…?, which tackled themes of modern anxiety and received strong support across BBC Radio 1, including airplay on the Rock Show, Indie Show, and BBC Introducing. The track also made waves on the Kerrang Radio A-list, reaching No. 2 on the Kerrang Magazine Chart, where it was hailed as “an arse-shaker” with a riff reminiscent of Royal Blood.
Both singles were produced by Pete Hutchings, known for his work with Royal Blood, Nothing But Thieves, and Skindred. Griffiths explains that Hutchings understood the band’s vision for a heavier sound, adding, “We had a chat with a few producers, but with Pete, we just clicked. He knew we wanted to be a more rock-focused band.”
Recently, the band supported Those Damn Crows at Cardiff Arena and completed a UK tour with Kids In Glass Houses. Looking ahead, HIMALAYAS are gearing up for SXSW 2025 in Austin, Texas, with more tour dates expected in the near future.
Fans can expect more from HIMALAYAS as they continue to push the boundaries of their sound.
