Lady Gaga is set to release her highly anticipated seventh studio album, LG7, with fans eagerly awaiting the follow-up to Chromatica (2020). After teasing new music for months, posting studio photos between filming her role as Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux, Gaga has confirmed that the album is in the works.
At the premiere of her Chromatica Ball film in Los Angeles this spring, Gaga provided more insight into the album during a Q&A. “I am in the studio every single day,” she revealed. “I’ve written and produced so many songs, and it’s nothing like anything I’ve ever made before. I love to break genre, and I love to explore music. There’s something really beautiful about knowing that you will be loved no matter what you do.”
Reflecting on the artistic direction of the album, Gaga shared that her Chromatica Ball tour in 2022 heavily influenced her creative process. “Something I’m definitely exploring right now is sort of the art of intensity,” she explained. “I think that the art of intensity actually began during this tour, but I’m not done with it yet.”
The new album, which will drop in February 2025, has fans buzzing with excitement, though the exact release date has yet to be revealed. The first single, “Disease,” was released on October 25, followed by a visually striking music video that explores Gaga’s ongoing battle with her inner demons.
Gaga first hinted at the arrival of LG7 in May 2024, during the finale of her Chromatica Ball film, which featured a teaser clip of a new track alongside the phrase, “LG7. Gaga returns.” The clip included lyrics that were difficult to fully make out, but the phrase “dance in the shadow… of the night” stood out to listeners.
LG7 marks Gaga’s seventh studio album, following The Fame (2008), The Fame Monster (2009), Born This Way (2011), Artpop (2013), Joanne (2016), and Chromatica (2020). Alongside her solo work, Gaga has collaborated with Tony Bennett on two jazz albums and contributed to the soundtrack of A Star Is Born (2018). She also recently released Harlequin, featuring songs from Joker: Folie à Deux.
With LG7 shaping up to be another bold chapter in her career, Lady Gaga is preparing to take fans on a musical journey unlike any before.
