Dan + Shay’s long-awaited Christmas album is finally here, and the duo couldn’t be more thrilled. After releasing their first holiday song, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” in 2013, the country-pop duo has gradually built a catalog of festive tracks. Their new double album, featuring 21 songs including the spirited title track “It’s Officially Christmas,” marks a decade of holiday music for the pair.
“This has been 10 years in the making,” Shay Mooney told. “It’s amazing. The reception has been incredible already.”
Over the years, Dan + Shay have had several original Christmas hits, with some tracks achieving Platinum status. Reflecting on the success, Mooney shares his excitement at being embraced in the “Christmas world.”
Shay is particularly hopeful that their Christmas album will become a holiday staple for generations to come. “This is going to be a big part of our legacy,” he says. “For the next 50 years, we hope this album will be something kids grow up listening to, including my own.”
With dreams of creating a timeless holiday tradition, Shay adds, “It’s something really, really special, and we hope it continues to build for the next 50 years.”
