Edmonds will host an exciting celebration of women in music on Friday, January 3, as part of Women Rock Day—an annual event honoring the trailblazers and rule breakers of the music industry. The community event will take place at the historic Old Opera House at 515 Dayton St., with doors opening at 3 p.m.
Hosted by Musicology Co., a woman-owned local record store, and Edmonds Live Music, the event will feature a variety of activities, including live music, a panel discussion, and opportunities for networking. The day’s festivities will kick off with a performance from Trash Panda Go Kart, followed by a panel of influential women from the Northwest music scene.
Confirmed Panelists
Drea Marilyn: Seattle musician, film composer, and educator.
Anna Shreeve: The original general manager who launched 107.7 The End.
Karen Mason-Blair: Renowned rock-and-roll photographer who captured iconic Northwest bands like Nirvana and Soundgarden.
Liv Lazaga: Co-founder of Friends House Records.
Rachel Field: Expert sound engineer at Resonant Mastering.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Jess Pillay, a local musician and podcaster, and will spotlight the contributions of women in the music industry. More speakers are being announced daily, with updates available on Musicology Co.’s website and social media channels.
After the panel, attendees will have a chance to network with industry leaders and speakers, as well as shop with local vendors. The day will conclude with a celebratory party featuring live music performances and DJ sets.
Women Rock Day was established to commemorate the historic induction of Aretha Franklin into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, when she became the first woman to receive this honor. The event is celebrated nationwide on January 3 each year, and this year, Edmonds joins the list of cities hosting festivities.
Rachel Gardner, owner of Musicology Co., is thrilled to bring this important celebration to Edmonds and put the city on the map as a key destination for music history.
This event is free to the public, thanks to generous sponsorships from Musicology Co., Edmonds Live Music, Engels Pub, Tidy Rebel, Hunniwater, Brigids Bottleshop, Pear Tree Consignment, Fisherman’s Village, and Alan Hardwick Productions. Additional sponsorship and donation opportunities are still available.
Whether you’re a music industry professional, aspiring artist, or just a fan of great music, Women Rock Day offers something for everyone.
