The Harper Country Band has been named the Band of the Year by the Caithness Triple C Country Music Club following a vote by local members. The presentation of the award took place during the club’s Christmas event at Harpers Function Room, with the band’s leader, Addie Harper, receiving the prestigious trophy on behalf of the group.
The Caithness Triple C Country Music Club’s Band of the Year award is traditionally presented a year after the voting period, with members selecting their favorite band from the past year. This year, Harper Country Band stood out, earning recognition for their contributions to the local country music scene.
The award ceremony was attended by club members, with presentations made by various club officials. Club secretary Janis Scollay handed the award to Addie Harper, while club chairman John Gunn presented trophies to band member Grant Lyall. Committee member Brian Scollay awarded John Polson, and vice chairwoman Marion Gordon made double presentations to John Newton and Andy Polson. Treasurer Isobell Beattie presented the final trophy to Donny Williamson.
In addition to the band award, the club also made its annual charity donation, presenting £600 to the John O’Groats Development Trust for the children’s playpark fund. With this contribution, the fund has now surpassed £103,000. The trust will soon apply for additional funding from the Stroupster Wind Farm community fund to further support the project.
The night not only celebrated local talent but also underscored the club’s ongoing commitment to supporting the community through charitable donations.
