Dee Morrisey, a popular country music singer from Tipperary, canceled her scheduled performance at Harney’s Final Furlong after seeing a local snow warning posted by a councillor on social media.
In a heartfelt post, Morrisey apologized to her fans, saying, “I’m so sorry to everyone who was coming to see me gig in Harney’s Final Furlong. I’ve got the makeup on and the jeep loaded, but it’s snowing heavily here now, and I’m too nervous about what conditions would be like traveling home later, so I’ve decided to cancel.”
She continued, expressing regret at disappointing her fans: “I just canceled it. I hate to leave people down, but driving on backroads to get home is more than my nerves or my driving skills could handle. Thanks for your post as it helped me make up my mind.”
Morrisey also extended apologies to the venue owners, John and Siobhan, and all of their patrons. She ended her message with a reminder for everyone to stay safe on the roads, adding, “I look forward to seeing ye again soon.”
