K-pop girl group GFriend has made a triumphant return with “Season of Memories,” a track from their upcoming reunion album, set to drop on January 13 in celebration of their 10th debut anniversary.
On January 6, the six-member group treated fans to a special New Year’s gift by releasing the emotional ballad “Season of Memories.” The song, which embodies GFriend’s signature sound with emotive vocals and striking guitar melodies, serves as a pre-release from the album of the same name.
In a statement, GFriend reflected on their decade-long journey, noting that their music and shared “seasons” with their loyal fanbase, known as Buddy, will forever be cherished. “It’s hard to believe that 10 years have already passed,” the group shared. “We put in a lot of effort for this comeback to share it with our fans, Buddy, and we hope it proves to be a rewarding gift.”
For this track, GFriend reunited with producers Lee Won-jong and Noh Ju-hwan, known for their past collaborations on hits like “Time For The Moon Night,” “Sunrise,” and “Crossroads.”
The group also took to the stage at the 39th Golden Disk Awards in Japan on January 5, performing some of their past hits before premiering “Season of Memories.” This marks GFriend’s first reunion since May 2021 when members Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji parted ways with Source Music.
Looking ahead, GFriend is preparing for a tour that will kick off with a three-night concert in Seoul, followed by stops in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
Debuting in 2015, GFriend quickly rose to fame with their “innocent” image, featuring catchy hooks, orchestral arrangements, and precise choreography. Over time, they evolved musically, with hits like “Fever,” “Apple,” and “Mago,” showcasing a more sophisticated style.
