SZA has expressed her enthusiasm for the idea of releasing a collaborative album with her long-time friend and frequent collaborator, Kendrick Lamar.
In a recent appearance, the Grammy-winning artist was asked about the possibility of teaming up with Lamar for a joint album. SZA’s response was unequivocal: “I would love that,” she said, radiating excitement.
The singer further elaborated on her admiration for Kendrick, praising his artistic genius and the mystery that surrounds his work. “He’s such a genius, and part of his genius is him being so elusive and so mysterious,” SZA remarked. “I don’t know what’s going on as much as you don’t know what’s going on.”
SZA also acknowledged Kendrick’s influence on her own creative process, particularly during her “fumbling and finding” phase, a period where she learned to trust his guidance and expertise. “He’s a huge part of my ‘fumbling and finding’ era,” she explained. “I’m just trusting all of his expertise and being thrust into these moments.”
The demand for a joint album from the two artists has surged in recent years, fueled by their successful collaborations, including the GRAMMY-nominated “All the Stars” from the Black Panther soundtrack, as well as their more recent tracks, “Luther” and “Gloria” from Kendrick’s GNX album. Fans are eagerly hoping that this much-anticipated project will soon become a reality.
