Singer-songwriter Neal Francis kicks off the new year with his expansive power-pop anthem, “What’s Left of Me,” a candid reflection on the trials of life on the road. Co-written with Nashville-based hitmaker Chris Gelbuda (known for his work with Sabrina Carpenter, Meghan Trainor, and Zac Brown Band), the track is accompanied by an official music video now streaming.
The song comes ahead of Francis’ eagerly awaited third studio album, Return To Zero, set for release on March 14 via ATO Records. This marks his first full-length album in over three years and promises to be his most ambitious work to date. Melding timeless rock with ’70s-inspired dance grooves, Return To Zero features heavy guitar riffs and lush, pulsating beats crafted entirely through analog techniques, reflecting his deep commitment to analog sound.
Francis, who collaborated closely with Gelbuda on the album, shared, “A lot of these songs were influenced by Electric Light Orchestra and the way Jeff Lynne merges classical music with pop songwriting.” The track “What’s Left of Me” channels this ELO influence, with its lush orchestration and deeply introspective lyrics. Known for his unique blend of funk, soul, and rock, Francis draws inspiration from the late ’60s and ’70s while keeping his sound fresh and relevant for today’s listeners.
