Dan + Shay have earned a GRAMMY nomination in the coveted Best Country Duo/Group Performance category for their song “Bigger Houses.” This marks yet another milestone in their remarkable career, as the duo has already won three GRAMMYs, including back-to-back victories in 2019, 2020, and 2021 in the same category.
Shay Mooney shared his disbelief over the continued success he and Dan Smyers have experienced, more than a decade into their musical journey. Reflecting on their career, Mooney credits their dedicated fanbase and their instinctual approach to choosing singles that resonate with listeners.
“It’s crazy, man. We got nominated for a GRAMMY on that song, which is absolutely mind-blowing,” Mooney said. “When Dan and I first recorded it and decided to release it as a single, we knew it was a slower song, and I think our radio team was probably thinking, ‘What are you guys doing?’ But we’ve always trusted our gut when it comes to singles and listened closely to what our fans were telling us. The stories we were hearing about how this song was impacting people really made us feel like we had something special.”
Mooney continued, expressing gratitude for the ongoing journey. “It’s been amazing to be part of something bigger than us. It feels like a movement of gratitude—not just for us, but for everyone involved. Having a song like that be nominated for a GRAMMY is truly special. We’re so grateful, and I can’t believe we’re still here, 10 years later, still doing this and still connecting with people.”
