Neil Young fans have reason to be excited as the legendary Canadian musician reveals plans for a new album in 2025. Young confirmed that the debut album with his new band, The Chrome Hearts, is scheduled for release in April. This announcement comes on the heels of the band’s debut single, “Big Change,” which Young released just weeks ago.
The Chrome Hearts, formed in September 2024, marks a new chapter for Young after an unexpected break from touring with his longtime band, Crazy Horse, due to an unspecified illness. The lineup of The Chrome Hearts includes guitarist Micah Nelson, bassist Corey McCormick, drummer Anthony Logerfo, and organist Spooner Oldham. Notably, Nelson, McCormick, and Logerfo are familiar to Young’s fans as members of Promise of the Real, while Oldham has worked with Young for decades, contributing to albums such as Comes a Time (1978) and Harvest Moon (1992).
If the album’s projected April release date holds, it will be Young’s second major release in 2025, following the February 14 debut of his long-lost 1977 album, Oceanside Countryside.
Additionally, Young and The Chrome Hearts are set to perform at the Glastonbury Festival in June, though their inclusion initially sparked confusion. Young had distanced himself from the event due to what he later described as an “error in the information,” and expressed frustration over the festival’s corporate nature.
